Global Safety Day Anglo American

One of the ‘constants’, of all our Global Safety Day themes - and of our journey towards Zero Harm - is that talking about safety – keeping it top of mind, keeping the conversation going  – should be a part of our daily routine at Anglo American.

 In that spirit, I would like to share a story with you.

It hasn’t got a lot to do with mining – but bear with me and I’m sure you’ll understand my point. It’s about parental control - the type of control most of us can relate to either as grandparents, parents, or – casting our minds back – as children.

A friend of mine told me over the weekend about a slight disagreement he had with his six year old son – over what made the healthiest ingredients for a lunch box. It was one of those early morning discussions that continued in traffic in the car on the way to school. It all ended when the father dropped his son off, and the youngster turned to his dad and wisely said, “Daddy, you don’t know everything.”
